House Rules London and Funktion Rooms Eastbourne

The bank holiday weekend kicked off for me in London with House Rules. Staking claim as the capital's hottest underground party, HR has been running now for nearly three years. The atmosphere at the club just gets better and better and Friday was no exception. Two words, road block. By the time I got on the CDJ's at 1am, the main room was jumping and I had a ball. Friday also gave me a chance to road test some new productions to a diverse crowd. My remix of The Gossip 'Standing In The Way Of Control' has been going down an absolute storm wherever I play it. I also tried out new tracks 'Teenage Rebellion' and 'Step Off'. Both went down well, but still need some work. I have a studio at home now which means I can tinker with stuff all the time, very handy. House Rules is back in London on Friday 6th July, looking forward to it already.

Sunday 6th May I was down to the south coast on the Cream tour. The Funktion Rooms in Eastbourne has recently been upgraded and done out, complete with a Funktion One sound system. Split across three floors it's a great club with loads of potential. I was in the main room 1-3am so my driver Whaid picked me up in London around 10.30pm and we cruised down. Good to see a traditional sea side town like Eastboune developing house nights, away from the usual Sussex destination of Brighton. The only problem at the Funktion Rooms was the DJ booth being far too removed up and away from the dance floor in the main room, a similar lay out to Amnesia, Ibiza. The difference is that Amnesia holds 5000 so the booth location works. In Eastbourne, you can't really see the dance floor which means it's hard to interact and read the crowd, something I consider a really important part of DJing. I mentioned this to the promoter Paul Hillyer, but apparently there are fire exits involved with the lay out, and they use the current stage space for bands. Get the DJ booth down on the dance floor and that club has massive potential. Also a cool, mixed crowd in there, who knew their music, I really enjoyed the night.

I'm in the studio now all week, with three really exciting ongoing projects. Cream have also just announced their line up for the summer in Ibiza and I'm delighted to be back out there as main room resident again. Things kick off for me on Thursday 28th June and I can't wait. I f*ckin love Ibiza!
