Mixmag Ibiza Blog 2

Last Thursday couldn't have come round quick enough for me, my first set in Ibiza this summer for Cream. My June date was cancelled due to Amnesia's licensing problems. After spinning at the Kanya pre party, I arrived at the club for 11.30 and was immediately reminded what an amazing place it is. The sound system in there kicks butt and I loved being back in the main room booth.

This is my fourth season now as resident for Cream and the shows get better and better. The place was absolutely heaving all night, one of the busiest I've ever seen the club. Ferry Corsten took over from me and the room was going right off - job done.

My current sound includes tough, pumping house, right through to trance, which has a tech, hard feel to it. There's that much good new music around at the moment, I'm spoilt for choice. My new track with The Viceroy ‘La Galeria' went down a storm as well, the perfect place to road test new music!

The Mixmag Terrace was unbelievable. I've seen this room develop enormously over the last few years, with the line ups getting increasingly stronger. Last Thursday things were taken to a whole new level, Tocadisco and Sebastian Ingrosso were on fire. Improved sound and five green lasers - the place went off like the proverbial rocket. This must be the best house room in Ibiza now? I had a ball in the box with Sebastian, that boy can party, swigging neat Vodka from the bottle all night.

I'm back next week for two shows, Cream's 11 th Ibiza Birthday on Thursday then the massive Cream Radio 1 party on Saturday with Sasha, so expect a bumper edition of my Mixmag blog then.

Mixmag Ibiza Blog 1

I hot footed it out to Ibiza from Gatwick Airport on Wednesday night, weighed down with a CD wallet packed full of hot new music heading for my first Cream show of the summer. Thursday 28th June I spent pool side doing my stretches in preparation and working on a base tan, only to get the call around 4pm saying the second Cream party of the season wouldn't be happening. Gutted!

There are still problems with the Amnesia licence that weren't resolved in time, and although the party was promoted all over the island, things were pulled at the last minute. Nothing Cream can do, just one of those things, but disappointing none the less. I was ready to take the roof off that Amnesia main room.

That aside, I still had two days on the island, my first trip of 2007, and there have been some interesting developments. There's a fantastic motorway from San Antonio to Ibiza Town, and on to the airport. This means you can get across this part of the island in 15 minutes, with no traffic, which is a result.

There's also now a walk way from Kanya Beach right around to the main San Antonio port, linking up with the existing path that runs out the front of Bar M and beyond. I was sceptical about this when I heard the news, but after walking along it as the sun was setting, and seeing the positive effect outside Café Mambo, I'm a fan. It looks to me like Café Del Mar will suffer though, it's lost its previous character. Time will tell.

The island was looking busy. Thursday I was at Mambo for the Pacha pre show. Hernan Cattaneo was live, and I had a bit of a chin wag with him about Creamfields this year. We're both appearing in the Cream Arena, should be a stomper. Hernan's a legend, and I gave him a copy of my remix of The Gossip 'Standing In The Way Of Control' which is causing havoc everywhere I play it.

Friday I was back at Mambo for sunset and Pete Tong. The new terrace means there's much more outdoor seating available, which is all good. We got a decent bottle of champagne, and along with a packed out bar watched the infamous Ibiza sun set. This is a brilliant time of day, you can feel the pre club apprehension in the air. Love it. I left Ibiza early Saturday morning, a few hours before the airport was closed down due to a bomb scare. Back in the UK I was due in Glasgow for a show, but upon arrival at Gatwick early evening, I was informed another group of terrorists had attacked Glasgow airport and my flight was cancelled. Gutted again!
